Governments helping at-risk residents with home security
Under increased crime levels in the town in West Australia’s Pilbara area, The City of Karratha Council has taken a proactive step towards ensuring its residents are protected. The council has established a security subsidy scheme which provides residents with a rebate towards installing a security system in their homes.
The scheme includes assistance for Karratha residents to install CCTV security cameras, home alarm systems, and security sensor lighting.
Another Western Australian council which provides help for seniors to secure their homes is the City of Cockburn in Perth’s south. The Seniors Security Subsidy Scheme run by this local council offers financial support for everything from home alarms, deadlocks, sensor lights, security screens, and more.
What great examples of local governments helping to keep at-risk residents safe.

Is a home security system worth it?
When you consider that the average cost of a burglary in Australia is around $2400, installing a security system as well as taking advantage of any government or community assistance available to you is a great idea.
Your local security company can assess your home and provide recommendations on how best to protect your home and family working within your specific budget. Getting an expert review can help to identify potential weak spots which might not be obvious to most residents.
