Types of lighting

Ambient Lighting

Ambient

This type of lighting is used to provide an even overall light to a room.
Example: Lounge room, bedroom, bathroom.

Accent Lighting

Accent

This lighting is used when you want to create a focal point(s) within a room.
Example: Trophy room, music room, feature wall.

Task Lighting

Task

This type of lighting is used to light up specific tasks within a room.
Example: Study, studio, bedside wall lamps.

In most homes, you will find one if not all of the above described light types. These types of lights aren't just for in home use, for example: You could also use accent lighting within a garden to highlight particular trees or plants or task type lighting over the barbecue.

Our team can help you to determine what lighting type will be best suited to your area and needs.

Energy Efficient Lighting

Lighting no longer needs to cost an arm and a leg to keep your home bright. LED lighting uses less power than incandescent bulbs and is available in either cool white (slightly blue undertones) or warm white (slightly yellow undertones).

Energy efficient lighting doesn't just save you on your power bill, they also can last up to 5 times longer than traditional light bulbs. So you will also be saving on replacements.

LED Lighting

LED means Light-Emitting Diode which is the light source. LED's can be used in replacement for fluorescent and incandescent light sources like in the picture above. Many people think LED's are downlights which is an incorrect statement. A downlight is a type of light and the LED is the what produces the light.

Security Lighting

Security lighting and outdoor lighting are often confused as they both look fairly similar and are situated outside. The difference between security lighting and outdoor lighting is that whilst outdoor lighting may light up your house from the outside, security lighting specifically covers entry points and dark sections of the home. Security lights also predominantly work on motion detection making it difficult for unwanted visitors to sneak onto your property.

In basic terms, security lights cover entry points and dark sections of your property whilst outdoor light, light up your home and garden from the outside.
