Why We Install Axis Cameras on Commercial Sites

Axis is one of the few camera manufacturers that designs its own chip. ARTPEC, now in its ninth generation, is developed in-house in Sweden, and Axis keeps complete control of its production, which matters to buyers who audit their supply chain. The chip runs deep learning on the camera itself, powers the image processing the brand is known for, and carries built-in cybersecurity.

The other half of the case is openness. Axis builds open-platform IP products, so its cameras, audio and intercoms slot into multi-vendor systems as readily as they run under Axis’s own software. On commercial sites that already have a platform, that flexibility is worth as much as the image quality, and it is why Axis sits alongside the other brands in our commercial security camera systems.

AXIS M Line

The affordable end of a premium brand: Axis dome cameras in compact and flat-faced forms, plus varifocal models with AI on board, for positions that need Axis quality in volume.

AXIS P Line

The versatile middle: high-performance domes, bullets and multi-sensor models that carry most of a demanding commercial site.

AXIS Q Line

The top of the range: advanced domes, long-range models and an Axis PTZ camera lineup with the strongest imaging and analytics in the family, specified where a single position carries the site.

Specialty Cameras

Modular cameras for discreet installs, thermal cameras for detection beyond light, explosion-protected models for hazardous areas, onboard cameras for vehicles, panoramic multi-sensor units and body worn systems.

AXIS Object Analytics and Edge AI

AXIS Object Analytics comes preinstalled on compatible Axis cameras at no extra cost. It detects, classifies, tracks and counts people and vehicles, including vehicle types, and it processes live video directly on the camera, so there is no analytics server to buy and no per-camera analytics licence to renew. Around it sit the technologies Axis is known for: Lightfinder for colour in low light, Forensic WDR for scenes with harsh contrast, OptimizedIR, and Zipstream compression that cuts bandwidth and storage. The same edge intelligence carries the licence plate recognition and AI security cameras and video analytics work we engineer into commercial systems.

AXIS Camera Station Pro

AXIS Camera Station Pro is the manufacturer’s own video management system: server-based, unifying video and access control in one interface, with lifetime licences preloaded on Axis recorders and one-year or five-year licences for third-party hardware. An Axis NVR arrives ready to record. We deploy both AXIS Camera Station Pro and Milestone XProtect, matched to the site: Camera Station Pro where a site standardises on Axis end to end, Milestone where Axis cameras join a wider multi-vendor platform.

Axis Speakers and Network Audio

Axis network speakers put announcements, paging, public address and background music on the same network as the cameras, managed through AXIS Audio Manager, with network paging consoles where operators need a microphone. The same system carries safety instructions and live or prerecorded deterrence messages, so a site runs one audio system where it used to run several. Axis speakers install wherever the network reaches, and an Axis IP speaker is as much a security device as the camera beside it.

Axis Intercoms and 2N

Axis intercoms and door stations put entry conversations on that same network, and the range runs deeper than most buyers realise: 2N, the IP intercom maker Axis acquired in 2016, is an Axis company. For sites consolidating brands, one ecosystem covering video, audio and entry is a practical advantage, and it pairs naturally with the commercial intercom systems we install.

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Requested to install security system initially with only one camera. This was completed very efficiently. Any issues with Wifi were resolved to make it work.

Further to above we requested additional cameras which were completed and they checked every step of the way if we were happy with location and position.

Again one camera location was setup with minimal access back to base with there in depth knowledge of how to make the system work.

We thank Shane and Flynn for what they have achieved on our site.

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I recommend Alltronic! I contacted Alltronic (as I prefer to support local businesses) to reconnect an existing intercom system. They were honest and told me I probably didn't need this done as the door installers would likely do this, but that I can call back if the door installers can't reconnect the intercom/strike connection. The quoted fees to do a reconnection seemed reasonable and the staff very helpful and thorough. When I do need intercom or security needs, I will definitely call Alltronic. Emily was my contact person and she followed up on all my enquires and liaised with the door installation contractor.

Who makes Axis cameras?

Axis Communications AB, founded in Sweden in 1984 and headquartered in Lund. Axis launched the world’s first network camera in 1996 and has been part of the Canon Group since 2015.

Why is Axis specified on commercial projects?

Three reasons come up consistently in specifications: analytics that run on the camera and come preinstalled at no extra cost, image quality driven by Axis’s own ARTPEC chip with a fully controlled production chain, and an open platform that lets the cameras serve whatever management system the project standardises on. When a brief or a consultant’s design names Axis, those are usually the reasons behind it.
